Study finds men with beards carry more germs than dogs

Beards are a sign of being a “Macho Man”. Nowadays almost all men are having beards. Some are having short to some are having long. Even beard styling gels and creams are also being so trendy. But, here comes shocking news for beard lovers.

Scientists say that people with beard carries more germs in comparison to that of dogs “fur”. Sample of men’s beard was taken. Most of the samples had bacteria crawling on it while half of the samples had bugs which were harmful for human health. Samples of the dogs were having fewer bacteria than that of a man.

18 samples were taken from the men having a beard and 30 samples were taken of the dogs including different breeds. It was the testing of dog-born disease that the human with beard might pick up. Professor Andreas Gutzeit, of Switzerland’s Hirslanden Clinic, said that the range of bacteria in humans was more than that of dogs. The beard of men aged from 18 to 76 show very high microbial count whereas 23 out of 30 dogs had high counts. There were some samples which were harmful for human health. Dr. Gutzeit further said that dog can be considered as clean than men.

On this statement the founder of Beard Liberation Front, Kate Fleith proposed her opposition. She also cast doubt on the report. According to her, she didn’t find the beard to be unhygienic.
