| With a rich experience of over 35 years, Dr. Deepak Shivpuri has mentored innumerable undergraduate & post-graduate students at the Department of Pediatrics at J K Lon Hospital, the largest government pediatric hospital of Rajasthan. After taking voluntary retirement from the post of Professor and Unit Head, he initiated the development of Department of Advanced Pediatrics at Fortis Escorts Hospital, Jaipur in 2007. His whole hearted dedication for newer advancements in Pediatrics was recognized at Rajasthan Health Achievers Awards-2014 where we was bestowed the honor of best Pediatrician in the state. With multiple initiatives, he has instilled the spirit of social responsibility in many young doctors as he himself has been conducting free OPD service for the needy at St. Xavier's Sr. Sec. School in Jaipur. Even during Kargil war, as President of IAP, Jaipur he was instrumental in arranging supply of medicines worth Rs 2 lakh for families of the homeless during this war. With a focus on innovation, he was instrumental in fabricating a low cost Incubator for premature babies at the government state Zenana Hospital in Jaipur. During his stint at J K Lon, he furnished a state-of-art 15 bedded special care neonatal unit totally from donations from various agencies. He has also been on the Board of Directors of Disha Institute of Special Education for Mentally Challenged Children. With an extensive experience in Research and Academics, he does not only have many publications to his credit, but has also written chapters in many medical textbook. |
